As a result of Sacramone’s injury prior to the competition, she was promoted to the role of team captain.

In her words: “It was a challenging choice to make, but I had been giving it some consideration for quite some time.

I just wanted to give it a shot and be able to look back on it with no regrets, because I was afraid that if I didn’t give it a shot, I’d always be left wondering what might have been. I’m friends with all of the girls at Florida, and I know how much they enjoy living there. However, only a small percentage of people ever get the chance to compete at the professional level in gymnastics and secure sponsorship deals. Being sponsored by Ralph Lauren is really exciting for me because I have a passion for fashion.”  Raisman participated in the American Cup competition that was held in New York City at the beginning of March and finished in second place with a score of 60.823.

You would never know that she is under any kind of pressure, which is exactly what we need in this situation. In order for the girls to be successful at the Olympics, we need them to believe that they are prepared, and this was a very positive sign.”
