Amy Dumas Biography and Career:

Amy Christine Dumas better known by her ring name Lita and having been born on April 14, 1975, has a birth pronunciation. Lita is an American professional wrestler. She is one of the most popular female superstars in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014. She is widely considered to be one of the finest female performers of all time. She is well recognized as an icon of the era known as the attitude. After beginning her career under the name Angelica, Dumas began her wrestling career in Mexico in 1998 with the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). After that, she briefly wrestled on the independent circuit in the United States in early 1999, and then she wrestled for Extreme Championship Wrestling for a period of six months (ECW).

After that, in August of 1999, Dumas signed with the World Wrestling Federation, which would later become the WWE. She made her debut in February of 2000 under the ring name Lita. Initially, she was coupled with Essa Rios; however, she achieved her best push alongside Matt and Jeff Hardy as Team Xtreme, and in 2005–2006, she was a heel wrestler, including acting as Edge’s manager. She also achieved her greatest push alongside Team Xtreme. She has won the WWE Women’s Championship on four separate occasions. In 2006, following her initial retirement, she went on to found the punk rock band The Luchagors. On September 11, 2007, the band issued their debut album, which was titled after themselves. On April 14, 1975, Amy Christine Dumas was born to Christine and Michael Dumas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her parents’ names are Christine and Michael Dumas.

During her childhood and adolescence, she moved around a lot, so she went to a lot of different schools in Florida. Somehow, she was able to finish high school at Lassiter High School, which is located near Atlanta, six months before she graduated. She attended Georgia State University with the intention of majoring in education, but she left the program in 1993 because she felt that it was too similar to high school. Later on, Dumas relocated to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a roadie for a band and played bass guitar in a number of other bands.  Dumas first became interested in wrestling after watching an episode of Rey Mysterio Jr.’s match on an episode of World Championship Wrestling’s (WCW) Monday Nitro. Rey Mysterio Jr. is an American luchador.

In the year 1997, she went to Mexico in order to have a deeper understanding of the sport and how to wrestle. Dumas supported herself through her education by performing under the stage name Misty at local nightclubs.  During her time in Mexico, Dumas worked out with a number of professional wrestlers and learned from some of the best in the business, including El Dandy, Kevin Quinn, and Ricky Santana.  Angelica was the ring name that Dumas used when she finished her training and became a member of the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in 1998. She competed under this identity throughout the year. After Dumas had returned to the United States, she maintained her career as Angelica while working as a valet on the independent circuit. On January 9, 1999, she made her debut as a wrestler in a match against an independent wrestler by the name of Strawberry Fields. She ended up winning the match.

She had a job with Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW), where she was Christopher Daniels’ manager at one point. She also made appearances in the NWA Mid-Atlantic, which is where she first met Matt and Jeff Hardy. They extended an invitation to her to train with them, and she accepted. In April of 1999, Paul Heyman, the owner of Extreme Championship Wrestling and the booker for the company, made an approach to Dumas (ECW). Dumas made her acting debut on ECW in the role of Miss Congeniality, who was Danny Doring’s on-screen girlfriend. Later on, Dumas started using the name Angelica once more, and she made her pay-per-view debut on July 18 at Heat Wave. During the event, Doring proposed to her using a condom as part of the storyline they were following, and she accepted. ECW wrestler Rob Van Dam was the one who introduced Dumas to veteran wrestler Dory Funk, Jr., and it was Funk who extended an invitation to Dumas to enroll in his wrestling school, known as The Funkin’ Conservatory.

Dumas attended Funk’s program alongside twenty-three men, graduated from the academy in August 1999, and returned to ECW. In the meantime, Funk and his wife put together a video compilation featuring Dumas and sent it to the World Wrestling Federation. The Federation was suitably wowed, and on August 1, 1999, Dumas was given a WWF developmental agreement after being signed to a developmental contract. She had been a part of ECW for a total of six months before making her last appearance on October 23, 1999, at Re-enter the Sandman.  Dumas made his first appearance on the episode of Raw Is War on July 5, 1999, as a member of The Godfather’s Ho-Train. Dumas was given the ring moniker Lita and matched with the luchador Essa Rios after polishing her abilities at the Memphis Championship Wrestling developmental territory.

Lita and Rios made their first appearances in the World Wrestling Federation on the episode of Sunday Night Heat that aired on February 13, 2000. During that program, Rios was scheduled to defeat Gillberg for the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship (it was only by watching the episode that the two learned their new ring names, decided post-production). Immediately after he had used a technique on an opponent, Lita would imitate it, most notably the moonsault and the hurricanrana.  Essa Rios and Lita were involved in a fight with Eddie Guerrero and Chyna, which resulted in a bout for the European title at Backlash between Rios and Guerrero, who was the champion at the time.

During the month of May in the year 2000, a plot line was devised in which Lita discovered Rios cavorting with The Godfather and his “hos,” producing friction between the two of them. Eventually, Rios betrayed Lita by powerbombing her after she unintentionally caused him to lose a match. The Hardy Boyz came to Lita’s defense after the attack. Lita gained a more “alternative” image while she was a member of Team Xtreme. She began wearing loose pants with a thong that was hiked up high above her jeans, leaving it obviously exposed. Almost immediately after she became a member of Team Xtreme, her popularity increased dramatically.  During her time with Team Xtreme, Lita became the only female to ever be physically involved in Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches in the WWF.

She effectively interfered at TLC I at Summerslam and TLC II at WrestleMania X-Seven on the Hardy Boyz’ behalf; however, her interference was often short-lived because she was brutally Speared at ringside by Edge and 3-D’ed by the Du In June of 2000, Team Xtreme began a storyline with T & A (Test and Albert), in which Lita competed against their manager, Trish Stratus, for control of T & A. Lita was managed by Lita. The competition between the two ladies eventually escalated into an intermittent and protracted animosity that continued until Stratus announced her retirement in 2006. Shortly after the event known as Fully Loaded, the narrative came to a close when Lita defeated Stratus via pinfall in a six-person mixed tag team match.

After that, the two adversaries competed against one another in the main event of the episode of Raw that aired on July 31, 2000, in Atlanta, Lita’s hometown. The match was a tag team match pitting Lita and The Rock against Stratus and Triple H, which Lita and The Rock won. After that, Lita had a feud with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, who was the WWF Women’s Champion at the time. This happened after Lita won the very first women’s battle royal, which included competitors like Ivory, Jacqueline, Terri, and The Kat. Lita won the Women’s Championship for the very first time with a moonsault when she defeated Stephanie in the main event of the Raw is War show that aired on August 21, 2000 (her second main event in three weeks). The Rock served as a special guest referee for the match.
