Ben Miller Biography and Career:

Ben Miller is a British actor, comedian, and novelist. He was born on February 24, 1966, in England. It was as a member of the comedic combo Armstrong and Miller that he first gained widespread recognition. Miller is also well-known for playing the main character of Detective Inspector Richard Poole in the first two series of the BBC crime thriller Death in Paradise and for portraying James Lester in the ITV science-fiction series Primeval. Both of these roles helped establish Miller as a prominent actor. Miller uprooted his life and went to London to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. Alexander Armstrong, a fellow Cambridge graduate, was the one who made the introduction to him in the year 1992 at the TBA Sketch Comedy Group, which was a comedy club that was held at the Gate Theatre Studio in Notting Hill during the 1990s. They presented their first full-length performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1994. Two years later, in 1996, they returned to the festival and were nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award.

Their accomplishments led to the creation of the hit television series Armstrong and Miller, which aired for a total of four seasons between the years 1997 and 2001, with the first season airing on the Paramount Comedy Channel and the subsequent three seasons airing on Channel 4. The two hosts also had their own radio program on BBC Radio 4 under the same name in 1998. The show contained a number of skits and characters that were seen in their television show. Following a hiatus of six years, the program was recommissioned for production by Hat Trick Productions as The Armstrong & Miller program, and three seasons have been produced. Children’s Hour with Armstrong and Miller was the name of their second radio program that was broadcast in 2008.
