Blake Griffin Biography and Career:

Blake Austin Griffin is an American professional basketball player who currently competes for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association. He was born on March 16, 1989, in the United States (NBA). When he was a sophomore, the Oklahoma Sooners basketball team honoured him by naming him the consensus national college player of the year. He played collegiate basketball for the Sooners. Since being drafted first overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2009 NBA draught, Griffin has gone on to become a member of the NBA All-Star team six times and has been named to the All-NBA team five times. Griffin led the club in scoring with 13.6 points per contest on average, helping them finish the season with a record of 24–2. Later on, in what would be his final year of high school competition alongside his brother, he was honored with selection to the Little All-City All-State team.  After that, Taylor decided to accept a scholarship offer from the Oklahoma Sooners so that he could play collegiate basketball for them. Blake was a part of the Athletes First AAU squad during the summer of 2005. During that time, the DC Blue Devils were an AAU team that Kevin Durant and Ty Lawson played for. Griffin was a member of the Oklahoma Christian basketball team when he was demoted from Class 3A to Class 2A during his junior year of competition. As he started his third season with the Saints, he was rapidly growing as a player,[22] and he led them to a third consecutive state championship. He was a leader for the Saints. In the championship game, he led Oklahoma Christian to a victory over Washington High School by scoring 22 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and recording six blocks. The final score was 57–40. Griffin concluded the season averaging 21.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists for the Saints, who went on to finish the year with a record of 27–1.

He was voted the Most Valuable Player of the State Tournament. As a result of his hard work, he was recognized as The Oklahoman Player of the Year and was selected to the first team of the Tulsa World Boys All-State.  The new head coach of the Oklahoma basketball team, Jeff Capel, became aware of him through his older brother, Taylor, and was impressed by his play, which led to him being hired. Coach Bruce Capel loved the fact that Blake Griffin had not yet become a well-known name among college basketball recruiters. He believed that Griffin was the type of player with whom he could reestablish the Oklahoma men’s basketball program. The Oklahoma Christian Saints compiled an overall record of 106–6 during his tenure as head coach for those four years. Following his senior season, Griffin was honoured as the Player of the Year by both the Tulsa World and The Oklahoman. This recognition came after Griffin had already graduated from high school. As a result of this, he was named Big 12 player of the week three times in a row, and he concluded the season with a total of six players of the week awards, which tied the record.  In a home victory against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, he set career bests for both points and rebounds with 40 points and 23 rebounds, becoming the only player in Big 12 history and the third player in the history of the University of Oklahoma men’s basketball program to record at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a game. He joined Wayman Tisdale (61 points and 22 rebounds in 1983) and Alvan Adams as the only players in the history of the program (43 points and 25 rebounds in 1975).
