Claude Littner Biography and Career:

Claude Littner is a corporate leader who was the previous chairman of Viglen, Powerleague, ASCO, and Azzuri Communications. He was born in the United States on May 4, 1949, and now resides in the United Kingdom. In addition to that, he is the Deputy Chairman of Blacks Leisure and was the Chief Executive Officer of Tottenham Hotspur in the past. Additionally, he is well-known for his participation in the British version of “The Apprentice,” in which he conducted job interviews for his former employer Alan Sugar. After the first season of 2015, Littner started working as one of Sugar’s assistants. Following his time spent in the accounting field, Littner went on to establish a successful career as a turnaround expert. It was in this capacity that he was introduced to Alan Sugar and ultimately agreed to head a number of businesses owned by Sugar. Littner served as chairman and chief executive officer of Amstrad International, Amstrad Spain, and Dancall Telecom in the early 1990s.

Claude Littner held the positions of non-executive chairman of Azzurri Communications, deputy chairman of Blacks Leisure Group from August 2008 until July 2009, executive chairman of the international oilfield support services business ASCO from 2004 until 2007, and non-executive director of Norton Way Motors Ltd and Myeloma UK. In addition, Claude Littner was a member of the board of directors of both Myeloma UK and Azzurri Communications.[source: missing citation] Between the years 1993 and 1998, Littner served as Chief Executive Officer of Tottenham Hotspur when Sugar was the club’s principal owner and chairman.

In the past, when The Princess Royal asked him for tickets to a game, he nearly refused to provide them to her.[3] In 2001, he handed in his resignation as director of the company. In 2001, Littner made an investment in Powerleague, an organization that operates five-a-side football centers. Following the completion of a management buyout from 3i Group in 2003, the company went public on the AIM in 2006. After the firm was acquired in 2009 by Patron Capital[4], he made around £50 million in profit.

Since June 2007, Sugar has served as a non-executive director for Amstrad. In 2009, he handed over his previous managerial responsibilities to Littner, including the chairman’s seat at Viglen. Sugar also resigned from the bulk of the UK firm directorships he had. The candid and often combative manner in which Littner conducted job interviews on “The Apprentice” brought him to the attention of a broader audience in the UK.[5] He is the only interviewer in the history of the show to have participated in this capacity in each and every one of its series. In recognition of Claude Littner’s many contributions to the University of West London, the name of the institution’s business school was changed to the Claude Littner Business School in October 2014. Alan Sugar, a long-time partner and colleague, served as the one to officially open and showcase it.[8] A visiting Professor position at the University of West London was offered to him in April of 2015.

On April 27, 2015, it was revealed that Littner will be taking over for Nick Hewer in his role as Alan Sugar’s assistant on the program. He began conducting interviews on the candidates on the first day of the 2015 series, which was on October 14, 2015, and he is still doing so.[6] And now, almost two years after his accident, BBC One has confirmed that Claude will be making his comeback to our screens on Thursday evening. The star of The Apprentice, Claude Littner, has admitted that he almost left his job with Lord Alan Sugar to join a competing show. In the end, the producers decided to go with the late Hillary Devey, who had previously been a part of two different series before leaving in 2012.

In 2015, Littner was promoted to the position of Lord Sugar’s assistant, despite the fact that he had previously become known for his forthright and combative manner of interviewing candidates on The Apprentice. Due to a cycling accident that he was involved in the year 2021, he was unable to participate in the 16th series. After taking a break from the BBC show for one year, the businessman, who has been a regular cast member on the program since its inception, is scheduled to come back for the upcoming 17th series in a diminished role. During an interview with RadioTimes, Littner disclosed that his life would have taken a totally different path had he participated in another program produced by the BBC called Dragons’ Den.

He will be a part of the episode that is titled “Interviews,” in which the remaining candidates will be put under the microscope by Lord Alan Sugar’s advisers, including Baroness Karren Brady, Mike Soutar, Linda Plant, and Claude. He will participate in the show. An ambulance took him directly to the emergency room at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington when the accident occurred. After suffering a terrible accident in 2022 that almost cost him his leg, Littner had to take a year out of work before making his triumphant comeback. He went on to say, “My wife and my two sons were also there when [the doctors] made the decision that they were going to amputate my leg.” After that, they had another conversation about it, during which one of them stated, “Look, let’s get him into theatre as soon as possible tonight and let’s see if we can save his leg.” And I walked into the operating room, where they performed a very lengthy procedure, but they did not amputate my leg.

At the time, Baroness Karren Brady, who will feature with Lord Sugar and Sir Alan Campbell in the new season, tweeted the following: “I’m so sad that my close buddy @claudelittner won’t be with us on this year’s @bbcapprentice — he will be missed! I hope that he makes a full and rapid recovery. Campbell said he was “excited to be looking after Claude’s boardroom chair while he recuperates”. However, Lord Alan Sugar was compelled to remove his assistance once again after one episode into the new run. He picked for series one champion Tim Capmbell, who stepped into Littner’s place for the previous tour, which aired in 2022.

“Who better than somebody who’s actually been through the process?” Sugar said of his choice. Speaking to PA at the time, he said: “My wife and my boys were there as well and [the doctors] determined they were going to amputate my leg. “And then they had yet another conversation about it, and they said, ‘Look, let’s get him into theatre right away tonight and let’s see if we can save his leg.'” As he worked through the ordeal of recovery after the terrible event, he was able to shed two stones. On the other hand, you could be curious about what took place with Claude and why he was required to take a break from the series.

Due to injuries he had in a bike accident in 2021, he decided to step away from the show for its sixteenth series. Tim Campbell, who won the first series, took over as host for the 16 season.[7] Although Littner made his comeback to the program for the premiere of the seventeenth season, he was not in good enough health to continue appearing in further episodes. Tim Campbell will be taking over in his stead for the remaining ten episodes of the season.
