Ludacris Biography and Career:

Ludacris is an American rapper, actor, record producer, and record executive. He was born Christopher Brian Bridges on September 11, 1977, but is better known by his stage name, Ludacris (pronounced /leaders/, which is homophonous with the word ‘ludicrous’ in American English). Ludacris was born in Champaign, Illinois, but relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, when he was nine years old. It was in Atlanta that he began his career as a rapper. After becoming one of the first Dirty South rappers to attain mainstream success with many album releases, he signed with Def Jam South after forming his own record label, Disturbing tha Peace, in the late 1990s. He subsequently went on to start his own record label, Disturbing the Peace. Ludacris is the recipient of three Grammy Awards as well as an MTV Video Music Award for his work in the music industry.

After a brief stint behind the decks as a DJ, he went on to independently release his debut album, Incognegro, in 1999. The album was well received in the surrounding area, but he did not receive widespread recognition until the following year when it was reworked and issued as his major label debut, titled Back for the First Time. It featured the popular singles “What’s Your Dream” and “Southern Hospitality,” both of which were not included on Incognegro. “Southern Hospitality” featured Pharrell (featuring Shawnna). Word of Mouf was released by him in 2001, followed by Chicken-n-Beer in 2003 and The Red Light District in 2004; all three of these albums were awarded multi-platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

His subsequent two albums, Release Therapy (2006) and Theater of the Mind (2008), both feature a more somber tone than his previous work (2008). He was a featured artist on Justin Bieber’s smash track “Baby,” which went on to become one of the most highly certified singles of all time in the United States and is widely regarded as a seminal piece of contemporary popular music. War of the Sexes, his subsequent album, was released in 2010 and included a return to the more humorous tone of his earlier albums. On March 31, 2015, he released his most recent studio album, which is titled Ludaversal. As an actor, Ludacris is most well-known for his part as Tej Parker in the Fast and Furious film series, in which he made his debut in 2003. His first appearance in the movie is considered to be his breakthrough performance.

He received his diploma from Banneker High School, which is located in Atlanta, Georgia, in the year 1995. He attended Georgia State University for one year to earn a degree in music management between the years 1998 and 1999. He is a distant relative of the late comic Richard Pryor, who was a family friend of his.  Shortly after coming to Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of nine, Ludacris wrote his first rap song, and three years later, he became a member of an amateur rap group.

Using the alias “Chris Lova Lova,” Ludacris began his career in the music industry as an intern at what is now known as Atlanta’s Hot 97.5 (formerly Hot 107.9)Ludacris first crossed paths with music producer Timbaland when the two were both working in radio. Timbaland’s album Tim’s Bio: Life from da Bassment would later feature Ludacris on the song “Phat Rabbit” (credited as Ludichris). Ludacris clarified the origin of his stage name when he appeared on Direct Impact in the year 2000. He stated that his stage name was a play on the term “ludicrous.”Under his own independent label, Disturbing tha Peace, Ludacris issued his first studio album, titled Incognegro, in the year 1999. Def Jam South would later repackage Incognegro with some new songs added in order to include it in Ludacris’s major label debut album titled Back for the First Time, which was released in the year 2000.

The album peaked at position no. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and featured the singles “What’s Your Fantasy” (which featured Shawnna) and “Southern Hospitality” (which featured Pharrell Williams), which peaked at position no. 21 and no. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, respectively. Ludacris’s contribution to the chart-topping tune Area Codes came in the year 2001 “(with Nate Dogg)” to the score of the movie Rush Hour 2, which he was a part of. Also, it was included in his subsequent album, titled Word of Mouf, which was issued later that same year. For the 2003 Grammy Awards, the main track “Rollout (My Business)” by Word of Mouf was considered for a nomination for the Grammy Award in the category of Best Male Rap Solo Performance.

In 2002, two other singles made it onto the Top 100: “Saturday (Oooh Ooh),” which featured Sleepy Brown, achieved the highest position of no. 22, and “Move Bitch,” which reached no “with Mystikal and I-20 peaked at no. 10. Throughout the years 2001 and 2002, Ludacris was featured as a guest artist on a number of popular singles, including Jermaine Dupri’s “Welcome to Atlanta,” which reached a peak position of number 35 on the Hot 100 and number 15 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. In August of 2001, the song “Bia’ Bia” by Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz reached its highest position on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart at number 47. Ludacris was one of the many featured rappers on the track.

The song “Gossip People,” which featured Ludacris and was recorded by Missy Elliott, was made available as a single in the final week of 2002. In March of 2003, it reached its highest position on the Hot 100 at number 8. [Act a Fool,” a single by Ludacris, was included in the soundtrack of the film 2 Fast 2 Furious, in which Ludacris had a starring role as Tej Parker. The song was released in April 2003. The next album that Ludacris put out was titled “Chicken-N-Beer,” and it was released in the fall of 2003. Playaz Circle, Chingy, Snoop Dogg, 8Ball & MJG, Lil’ Flip, I-20, Lil Fate, and Shawnna were among the performers who appeared as special guests. The single, “Stand Up” appeared on both Chicken-n-Beer as well as the soundtrack for the teen hip hop/dance movie You Got Served. “Stand Up,” which was produced by Kanye West, went on to become one of Ludacris’ biggest mainstream hits to date.

It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and received heavy airplay on mainstream pop, rhythmic, and urban radio stations, in addition to MTV, MTV2, and BET. Kanye West is credited as the song’s producer. I.O.F., a New Jersey group, filed a lawsuit against Ludacris alleging that his song “Stand Up” stole a hook from one of their songs; however, a jury decided in June 2006 that the song did not breach any copyrights and dismissed the lawsuit. As the judgment was handed down, Ludacris was overheard saying that he hoped the plaintiffs had fun during their “15 minutes of fame.” [22] pic The following single from the album, titled “Splash Waterfalls,” was issued at the beginning of 2004. It is the only time he has produced two consecutive top 10 singles from a solo album, except for Release Therapy (an unedited version of the video could only be viewed on BET’s Uncut program).

A huge pop hit (despite its steamy video and explicit, adult-oriented lyrical content and themes), it subsequently became a success at urban radio and BET, and it is the only time he has produced two consecutive top 10 singles from a solo album. It was the most sexual music video that Ludacris had released up to that point, an R&B remix that included Raphael Saadiq and sampled “Anything You Want” by Tony! Toni! Tone! Along with Usher and Lil Jon, Ludacris won his first Grammy Award for their collaboration on the popular tune “Yes!” After that, Ludacris discharged “Blow It Out,” which was accompanied by a music video with a low production value. With his fourth album, The Red Light District, Ludacris showcases his growth as an artist by adopting a more mature style. Sohail Khalid helped create this album with many musicians such as T.I., Lil Flip, and Bun B.

On the first track of the album, Ludacris brags in an open manner that he might be the only rapper who is able to save the Def Jam record company. Ludacris filmed and recorded the single “Get Back,” in which he was depicted as a muscle-bound monster who was being bothered by the media and asked critics to leave him alone. In the video for the single, Ludacris warned detractors to leave him alone. During the episode of season 30 hosted by Paul Giamatti, he made his first appearance on Saturday Night Live as a special guest performing alongside the musical guest Sum 41. He then recorded “Get Back” with Sum 41 to generate a rock crossover single.

The follow-up track was titled “Number One Spot,” and it was inspired by Austin Powers. It was produced by New York City’s Hot 97 personality DJ Green Lantern. It utilized a sample of “Soul Bossa Nova” by Quincy Jones and sped it up to the beat of Ludacris’ lyrical flow in order to get this effect. Artists such as Nas, DJ Quik, DMX, Trick Daddy, Sleepy Brown, and new members of the Disturbing the Peace collective like as Bobby Valentino, Dolla Boi, and Little World are featured on the album. The album started off its career on the Billboard charts at the top spot.
