Marco Reus whose German name is pronounced [mako s] and who was born on May 31, 1989, is a professional footballer in Germany. He can play either forward or attacking midfielder positions. He is currently a member of both the German national team and Borussia Dortmund, where he serves as captain. Before moving on to Rot Weiss Ahlen, Reus spent most of his youth career playing for Borussia Dortmund. He made his official debut as a professional football player in the 2008–2009 season, when he was only 19 years old. That season, he participated in 27 games and scored four goals. Reus committed to playing for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga by signing a deal on May 25, 2009, which was for four years.  He scored his first Bundesliga goal on August 28 in a game against Mainz 05 following a 50-meter solo run, and since then, he has become a frequent goalscorer for his team under the direction of Lucien Favre. On his first game in the Bundesliga with Dortmund, which took place on the 24th of August, Reus scored a goal, helping his new club to a 2–1 victory over Werder Bremen. On September 29, 2018, Marco Reus scored two goals for Borussia Dortmund in their 5–0 defeat of his old club, Borussia Monchengladbach.
