Mario Götze Biography and Career:

Mario Gotze is a professional footballer from Germany who was born on June 3, 1992. He currently plays for the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt as well as the German national team. Gotze has experience playing in a number of different positions, including that of a false nine and an emergency striker, although his preferred role is that of a playmaker. Between the years of 2009 and 2013, he was a member of the Borussia Dortmund team that won the Bundesliga championship in 2010–11 and 2011–12, as well as the DFB-Pokal double. Additionally, he was a member of the Borussia Dortmund club that advanced to the final of the 2013 UEFA Champions League. Gotze became the second-most expensive German player at the time, behind Mesut Ozil, after a bid from Bayern Munich of €37 million triggered a release clause in Gotze’s contract in April of 2013.

This made Gotze the second-most expensive German player at the time. During his time with the club, he won an additional three league crowns, two DFB-Pokal trophies, and a winning medal in both the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. He remained with the club for a total of three seasons. After that, he went back to Dortmund in 2016, where he won the DFL Supercup and another DFB-Pokal trophy. In total, he has three DFB-Pokal titles. Gotze was selected for the German national football team for the very first time in the year 2010 when he was only 18 years old. In 2012, he was selected for the team that would compete in the UEFA Euro, and in 2014, he was the hero when he scored a game-winning goal in the FIFA World Cup Final. Gotze is a graduate of Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy, having joined the club for the first time when he was just eight years old.

He made his debut in the Bundesliga on November 21, 2009, in a match against Mainz 05 that ended in a scoreless draw. He entered the game in the 88th minute as a substitute for Jakub B.aszczykowski. Gotze was elevated to the first team by Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp during the winter break of the 2009–10 Bundesliga season. He has five total appearances by the time the 2009–10 season was through.  Gotze made the most of his opportunity and was an integral part of the Dortmund team that won the Bundesliga in the 2010–11 season. He made a total of 41 games during the 2010–2011 season and finished with eight goals. Matthias Sammer, who served as the technical director of the German Football Association at the time, referred to Gotze as “one of the brightest talents Germany has ever had” in the year 2010. He participated in the German Super Cup in 2011, but his team lost to Schalke 04. In January 2012, it was determined that Gotze had sustained an injury to his hip; the cartilage in Gotze’s hip had been inflamed as a result of stress.

Gotze extended his stay with Borussia Dortmund by signing a new deal on March 27, 2012, which would keep him with the club until 2016. However, his contract did include a clause that would allow him to be released from the club in exchange for a guaranteed transfer fee of at least €37 million.  Gotze was asked about the renewal of his contract, and he said, “My level of ease and contentment in Dortmund is well known to all. The club is not even close to reaching its full potential after its recent turnaround. And I want to be part of this evolution.”  Gotze made his return to the squad for the first time since suffering a hip injury in April 2012, although he was left on the bench for the match against rivals Schalke 04.

When he was hurt in the hip, the first time he played was in a game against Borussia Monchengladbach, where he entered the game as a replacement. Gotze won the Bundesliga championship with Borussia Dortmund in 2012, the same year that Dortmund set a record for the most points earned in a season in the Bundesliga with 81. This record was later broken by Bayern Munich in the 2012–13 season. Additionally, Gotze won the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund in 2012, beating rivals Bayern Munich 5–2 to take the title. At the end of the season, Gotze finished with seven goals in all competitions. The 2012 German Super Cup was Gotze’s first competition of the year, and he ended up losing.  He entered the game in the 82nd minute as a substitute for Dortmund and scored the game-winning goal in a 2–1 victory over Werder Bremen on the opening day of the 2012–13 season.

On the 19th of December, he scored a hat-trick, which was the deciding factor in Dortmund’s 5–1 victory over Hannover 96 in the third round of the DFB-Pokal. On March 5, 2013, Borussia Dortmund defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 3–0 in the second leg of their Champions League match. This victory completed Dortmund’s 5–2 aggregate victory over the Ukrainian champions and advanced Dortmund to the quarterfinals of the competition. Gotze contributed an assist and scored a goal in this match. As a consequence of this performance, Dortmund advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition for the first time in 15 years.

Gotze was unable to play in the final match against Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium in London because he sustained a thigh injury during his team’s semi-final match against Real Madrid. Although his team was defeated by Real Madrid 2–0 in the second leg of the semi-final, they still advanced to the final with an aggregate score of 4–3. Arjen Robben scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time to give Bayern Munich a 2–1 victory against his Dortmund side in the championship match. During Gotze’s final year at Dortmund, he and fellow German national team player Marco Reus forged a strong relationship. In addition, Gotze was successful in scoring 16 goals throughout all tournaments. On April 23, 2013, it was reported that Gotze would be transferred on July 1, 2013, to rivals Bayern Munich. This move came about as a result of Bayern Munich activating Gotze’s release clause, which was set at €37 million.

[28] Gotze became the most expensive German player in the history of the sport as a result of the deal.  In the end, Mesut Ozil ended up breaking the record later on in the summer when he transferred to Arsenal for the price of €50 million. Gotze’s desire to play under Bayern manager Pep Guardiola, who was once the head coach of Barcelona, was cited as the reason transfer by Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp as justification for Gotze’s move to Bayern. Klopp expressed his frustration that the announcement of Gotze’s transfer came so close to the semi-final match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in the Champions League. Later, Klopp asserted that Gotze is a favorite of Pep Guardiola and that Dortmund had little chance of persuading Gotze to remain with Dortmund.

He stated that Gotze is a favorite of Guardiola. On the 11th of August 2013, Gotze made his debut for Bayern Munich. He entered the game in the 60th minute as a substitute for Mitchell Weiser. In a friendly encounter, Bayern defeated Gyri ETO, the reigning Hungarian champions, by a score of 4-1 thanks in large part to two goals scored by Gotze. On August 24th, he played his first game in the Bundesliga for the club, which happened to be a home match against 1. FC Nürnberg. Bayern ended up winning the match 2-0. On October 19, Gotze entered the game for Bayern as a substitute and contributed two assists as the team rallied from a one-goal deficit to defeat 1. FSV Mainz 05 by a score of 4–1.

At the Allianz Arena on the 23rd of October, Gotze scored his first goal for Bayern in a competitive match during the club’s 5–0 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the group stage of the Champions League. During the game, he was also responsible for assisting Bastian Schweinsteiger. Gotze scored his first goal for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on October 26, 2013, when he came on as a substitute for Toni Kroos in the 25th minute of a game against Hertha BSC and scored a header. Bayern Munich won the game 3–2.  On November 2, he made his return to the starting lineup for Bayern in a road victory against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The score of the game was 2–1. Gotze scored the opening goal in a 3–0 road triumph over his former club Borussia Dortmund on November 23.

He came off the bench for the match and scored the goal. Due to his respect for Dortmund, he did not celebrate the goal after it was scored. Gotze scored the second goal in the team’s following match, which was an away victory against CSKA Moscow in the group stage of the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League competition. Gotze contributed to Bayern’s dominating 7–0 road victory over Werder Bremen on December 7 by scoring a goal in the game’s final minute and providing an assist to Thomas Müller. The match took place in Germany. On December 17, Gotze scored a goal from a long range in the 47th minute against Guangzhou Evergrande, which helped Bayern win 3–0 and go to the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup Final.  in which he entered the game in the 80th minute as a substitute.
