MatPat Biography and Career:
Matthew Patrick was the only child of his parents, Robert and Linda Patrick, and was the only kid born on November 15, 1986 in Medina, Ohio. He eventually developed a passion for theatre as well as video gaming. During his time as a student in elementary school, he misplaced his Tupperware in the garbage bin on the day that the school served grilled cheese and tomato soup. Because he was afraid of the punishment that his mother would give him, he went into the janitorial closet and proceeded to swim through three dumpsters full of leftover grilled cheese and tomato soup in order to recover it. Because he did this, he imbued his nose with the aroma of stale tomato soup, which he has not been able to rid himself of to this very day.
In 2005, he received the valedictorian award at Medina High School. Then he went on to Duke University, where he first met Stephanie Cordato in January 2006. Then in April of that same year, he collaborated with her in a game programming class on a Legend of Zelda parody called “The Epic of Stew.” In October of that year, Stephanie and Matthew officially started a couple after she discovered that Matthew was not gay. After receiving their degrees from Duke University on December 28, 2009, the two went on to pursue their careers. After moving to New York City with his wife Stephanie, Matt was able to try out for and eventually star in a variety of theatrical roles over the course of around two years, including Blood Brothers and a 2009 stage rendition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Matt established a profile on YouTube under the name MatthewPatrick13 and used it to submit videos of his theatrical appearances and singing auditions. MatPat had some success as a theatre actor, but he eventually gave it up since he and Stephanie were having trouble making ends meet and they couldn’t find another work. Matt eventually left the acting business in general after hardly getting any roles, and one of the deciding factors was seeing Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, a musical that Matt disliked so much that it finalised his decision to pursue another career. While he succeeded as a stage actor and director, he ultimately left the acting business altogether. Another problem was that he did not have enough money to buy food because his employment required him to work nonstop and supplied him with a low wage.
During the subsequent two years, MatPat did not receive any responses to the job applications it submitted for various positions including those of a television producer, a programmer, and a movie director. During this time, MatPat watched an episode of Extra Credits discussing tangential learning, which prompted him to start Game Theory initially to add something new to his resume. MatPat’s original motivation for starting Game Theory was to add something new to his skillset. Matthew concluded that he wanted to produce his own online series in which he would analyze popular video games through the lenses of science, history, and philosophy. After he decided to call the web series Game Theory, he ultimately opted to change the name of his channel to The Game Theorists. After being highlighted on some websites, such as Reviewtopia and Screw Attack!, and beginning to incorporate elements from MatPat’s directing experience and fan submissions (such as a logo and Spelling hailer’s intro music), Game Theory began to gradually build a fanbase.
This was one of the factors that contributed to the show’s popularity. Because of its popularity, MatPat was able to advance his career and open doors to other job opportunities. A video named “Game Exchange: New Partner Show Coming This Thursday” was uploaded to The Game Theorists on July 2, 2012, and it can be viewed here. In this video, Patrick announced that he would start a new theory series on his channel called Game Exchange. Game Exchange elucidates the many cultural references hidden within video games, in contrast to Game Theory, which solely reveals secrets about video games. The following video in the new series, titled “Game Exchange: Japanese Culture in Kirby, Mario, and Zelda,” was released to YouTube on July 5, 2012, which was three days after the debut of the first video in the series. Smosh and MatPat have worked together on a few times to create music. His first appearance was on Button Bash, and he then appeared on Madden Rivals, Gamer Fights, and two episodes of Game Bang alongside his wife, Stephanie Patrick.
His last appearance was on Gamer Fights. MatPat was the first guest to appear on SmoshCast and also appeared in the pilot episode of You Posted That? On the other hand, Ian has appeared on an episode of GTLive alongside his then-girlfriend Pam, and Mari, Flitz, Lasercorn, Jovenshire, and Sohinki have all appeared in various episodes of MatPat’s Game Lab. Sohinki was the only one of the five to play a role in more than one episode. The Game Theorists, The Film Theorists, The Food Theorists, and GTLive are all YouTube channels that were created and produced by this individual. His internet franchise, which can be found on the internet, is known as ScrewAttack. Matthew Patrick is the whole form of his name. MatPat is not only the host of Game Theory, but also the founder and narrator of its spinoffs, Film Theory and Food Theory.
Game Theory examines a wide range of gaming-related subjects, including the lore, logic, and scientific accuracy of a variety of video games and the gaming industry as a whole. Film theory and food theory examine cinema and internet cinematography and food franchises, respectively. Film theory was developed before food theory. In 2015, Patrick established GTLive, which was one of the first live gaming channels on YouTube. The following year, he launched the web series MatPat’s Game Lab, which is available only on YouTube Premium. As of the month of February 2021, he has over 34 million subscribers over his four channels, and his videos have been seen over 7 billion times in total. In 2009, Patrick established his first YouTube account, using the username “MatthewPatrick13.” He posted a number of videos on his channel that included his musical theatre auditions and performances.
Matthew Patrick, also known as “Matt” MatPat is the proprietor of one of the most popular and widely discussed channels on YouTube in this current generation. If you are a stickler for movies and games and preoccupied with overanalyzing even the smallest elements in these fields, then you will find the most comfort in his channels. MatPat is certainly more than just a one-of-a-kind personality; his channels, The Game Theorists and The Film Theorists, analyze the craziest mythology in a movie scene or pull apart the deepest secrets in a popular game. Because his channels include such a vast amount of content, it is understandable that you won’t be able to move from your chair until you’ve seen at least 20 films in a row on each of them. MatPat has reached a level of prominence that has allowed him to feature on and even host other shows. His YouTube channel, The Game Theorists, alone has more than 15.4 million subscribers. In addition to the two channels that have already been mentioned, he also has access to The Food Theorists and GTLive.
MatPat’s game-changing YouTube channels have been the talk of the town for years, and the backstory to his ascent to fame is just as inspiring as his metamorphosis into one of the most prominent YouTubers. Matthew was the kind of kid who always prioritized education, to the point that he would attend school over the summer break. On the other hand, he was also the kind of kid who just couldn’t get enough video games and movies while growing up. A few years later, Matthew came up with the brilliant concept of broadcasting to the entire globe previously unseen stuff on YouTube, such as a discussion of the connection between video games and the actual world in terms of mathematics and science. As a result, he launched his first channel, which is called ‘The Game Theorists.’ On this channel, he educates viewers about the experiences that can be gained through playing video games such as ‘Nintendo’ and ‘Call of Duty,’ and he produces episodes based on these titles.
“The Game Theorists,” which is a channel that mostly offers video content that is either a spin-off or even occasionally a unique show, quickly captured the attention of big gaming channels and gaming enthusiasts. Matthew Patrick’s channel, which currently has a staggering 15.4 million followers and is still growing, is well on its way to becoming even more popular. The channel enables several content creators to build ideas and teach their audience about various games. As a result of the popularity of this channel, he announced the launch of a second channel called “The Film Theorists.” This new channel will, in essence, follow the same format as “The Game Theorists,” but would concentrate on film theories instead. On Matthew’s third channel, which is called “GT Live,” he and his wife can be seen hosting live streams that centre on gaming and the various challenges and topics that are associated with it. His two new channels, one with over 10.5 million subscribers and the other with 2.74 million subscribers, have catapulted him into the brightest limelight possible indefinitely.
