Brad Paisley Biography and Career:

Bradley Douglas Paisley is a well-known American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was born on October 28, 1972, in the United States. Since the release of his first studio album, Who Needs Pictures, in 1999, he has released a total of twelve albums on the Arista Nashville label, eleven of which are studio albums and one of which is a Christmas compilation. The RIAA has awarded all of his albums with gold or higher certification. In the US Billboard Country Airplay chart, he has earned a total of 35 Top 10 singles, 20 of which have climbed all the way to the top spot. In 2009, he established a new record for the most consecutive singles reaching number one on that chart, with ten of them in a row.

Paisley has garnered multiple awards and accolades over his career, including three Grammys, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 14 Country Music Association Awards, and two American Music Awards. His records have been purchased more than 11 million times. He is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, which is considered to be the pinnacle of success in the genre of country music.  Paisley is also a songwriter, and he has contributed to the Cars franchise of films by Pixar with songs such as “Beyond the Clouds,” “Discover Yourself,” “Collision of Worlds” with Robbie Williams, and “Nobody’s Fool,” among others. Glen Dale, West Virginia, is where Paisley spent her childhood and her entire life.

His parents, Douglas Edward “Doug” Paisley, who worked for the West Virginia Department of Transportation, and Sandra Jean “Sandy” (née Jarvis) Paisley, who was a teacher, did not have any other children. He is their only child.  It was his maternal grandfather, Warren Jarvis, who introduced him to country music and gave him his first guitar, a Sears Danelectro Silvertone, and taught him how to play when he was eight years old. He has stated that he got his love of country music from him. When he was in the third grade, he gave his first performance in front of an audience by singing in his church. Instead of having him play the song on a piano at first, they were only going to have him play it on a guitar.

After hearing him sing the tune, the adults then suggested, “Forget the choir; let’s just have Brad do the whole thing.” After then, he was never in the position of having to ask for a gig again until he moved away from Glen Dale. After some time, he said that “I didn’t have to wait long before I was performing at every Mother’s Day and Christmas celebration. The cool thing about living in a small town is that if you want to be an artist, they’ll make you one if you ask them nicely enough.” He wrote his first song at the age of 13, and it was called “Born on Christmas Day.” It was eventually included on his album titled Brad Paisley Christmas. He had been studying guitar under the tutelage of a local musician known as “Hank” Goddard. At the age of 13, Goddard and Paisley established a band together and named it “Brad Paisley and the C-Notes.” Two of Paisley’s adult buddies were also members of the band.

While he was still in junior high school, the principal of the school overheard him playing “Born on Christmas Day” and encouraged him to perform at a meeting of the local Rotary Club. Tom Miller, who directs the programming of a radio station in Wheeling, West Virginia, was present. Miller approached him and asked whether he would be interested in appearing as a guest on Jamboree USA. After his debut on the show, the producers approached him with the proposition of including him in the rotation of regular performers. Throughout the subsequent eight years, he served as an opening act for well-known country artists like The Judds, Ricky Skaggs, and George Jones. He would set a record for being inducted into the Jamboree USA Hall of Fame as the youngest person ever.

In addition to that, he gave a performance at the Jamboree in the Hills. Paisley received his high school diploma from John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, West Virginia, in 1991. He then attended West Liberty State College in West Liberty, also located in West Virginia, for a period of two years. He attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, on a scholarship from ASCAP that covered all of his tuition costs. He majored in the music business at Belmont and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the music business from the Mike Curb School of Music Business in the year 1995.

He worked as an intern for ASCAP, Atlantic Records, and the Fitzgerald-Hartley management company. During his time at the university, he became acquainted with Frank Rogers, a fellow student who would later become his producer. Paisley also became acquainted with Kelley Lovelace, who would later become his co-songwriter. In college, he also became acquainted with Chris DuBois, who became another of his songwriting collaborators. Paisley signed a songwriting contract with EMI Music Publishing less than a week after graduating from Belmont; and he wrote David Kersh’s Top 5 hit, “Another You,” as well as David Ball’s 1999 single, “Watching My Baby Not Come Back.” This song was another one that Ball had a hand in writing.

His first release as a performer was the song “Who Needs Pictures,” which was issued by the record label Arista Nashville (released February 1, 1999). In May of that same year, he was a guest performer on the Grand Ole Opry for the very first time. Seven months later, he had his first No. 1 success with the song “He Didn’t Have to Be,” which told the story of Paisley’s frequent co-writer Kelley Lovelace and Lovelace’s stepson, McCain Merren. “He Didn’t Have to Be” was Paisley’s first song to reach No. 1.  Also, the song “Me Neither” from the album became a Top 20 smash in the year 2000, while “We Danced” became the second number-one hit of his career.

By February 2001, the album had already been awarded the platinum certification. In the latter part of the year 2000, Paisley was awarded the Horizon Award by the Country Music Association (CMA) as well as the best new male vocalist trophy by the Academy of Country Music. A year later, he was nominated for his first Grammy Award, this time in the category of Best New Artist. Paisley was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on the 17th of February in the year 2001.  At the time he accepted the invitation, he was 28 years old. On the 75th-anniversary concert special that was broadcast on PBS, Paisley and Chely Wright sang a song called “Hard to Be a Husband, Hard to Be a Wife” that they had collaborated on writing. After then, a version of this song was included in the compilation CD Grand Ole Opry 75th Anniversary, Vol. 2.  A nomination for Vocal Event of the Year at the CMA Awards would be bestowed upon the concert.

Later on, Paisley would make a contribution to the album Never Love You Enough which was released by Wright in 2001. He would co-write the songs “One Night in Las Vegas,” “Horoscope,” and “Not as in Love.” Paisley collaborated with her on the production of the first two tracks, “One Night in Las Vegas” and “Not as in Love,” on which he also played guitar and featured members of his touring band, The Drama Kings. In addition, he provided backing vocals for both of these songs. In 2002, he took home the trophy for “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” which was nominated for CMA Music Video of the Year. Little Jimmy Dickens, Kimberly Williams, Dan Patrick, and Jerry Springer were just a few of the famous people who made cameo appearances in the film.

Other songs from the album Part II that he released, “I Wish You’d Stay,” “Wrapped Around,” and “Two Persons Fell in Love,” all charted in the top 10 of their respective categories. After spending over 70 weeks in the top spot, the record was finally awarded the platinum certification in August 2002. As part of his efforts to promote his album, he went on tour across the country as Lonestar’s opening act. After releasing Who Needs Pictures and Part II, Brad Paisley followed it up in 2003 with the release of his third studio album, titled Mud on the Tires.

The album includes the successful single “Celebrity,” whose music video parodies popular television programs like Fear Factor, American Idol, The Bachelorette, and According to Jim. The video also features celebrities like Jason Alexander, James Belushi, Little Jimmy Dickens, Trista Rehn, and William Shatner. (Paisley later contributed to the album Has Been which was released by Shatner.) In 2004, “Mud on the Tires,” the title track of the album, was the most-played song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition, the eighth track from Mud on the Tires is a duet with Alison Krauss called “Whiskey Lullaby.” This track hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts, which are now known as the Hot Country Songs charts, and No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to winning a number of honors, the music video for “Whiskey Lullaby” was placed second on CMT’s list of the “100 Best Videos” in the year 2008. The album has been awarded the status of double platinum. [14] After touring with Reba McEntire and Terri Clark on the Two Hats and a Redhead Tour in 2005, he released the album Time Well Wasted, which included the singles “Alcohol,” which reached number 4, “When I Get Where I’m Going,” a duet with Dolly Parton, “The World,” and “She’s Everything,” with the last three all reaching number 1 in their respective charts.

On November 6, 2006, Time Well Wasted was presented with the award for Best Album at the Country Music Association CMA Awards. Also, it took home the trophy for album of the year at the 2006 ACM Awards. Moreover, Paisley was responsible for the composition of two original songs for the Disney Pixar picture Cars. You may listen to these on the soundtrack of the movie. This was done in honor of his contribution to the television special “Route 66: Main Street America.” Paisley was recognized with four nominations for the prestigious Grammy Awards in 2006, including Best Country Album for Time Well Wasted, Best Country Single for “Alcohol,” Best Country Instrumental for “Time Warp,” and Best Country Vocal Performance, Male, for Paisley (for “Alcohol”).
