Sean Gunn is a well-known American actor born on May 22nd, 1974. He is best known for his performances as Kirk Gleason on the television series Gilmore Girls (2000–2007), Kraglin Obfonteri in the films Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), and the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), and Weasel and Calendar Man in the Warner Bros./DCEU film The Suicide Squad (2021).

Sean is one of five siblings, the other four of whom, including his three brothers, would all go on to have successful careers in the entertainment business. His brother Matt is an actor and political writer, while his brother Brian was once the president of Artisan Entertainment. His brother James is a director and writer. Early on, Sean found that being the focus of attention was enjoyable. When he was old enough to comprehend, he understood that he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. As time passed, he developed an appreciation for the skill of acting and eventually came to see it as “something that’s inside of me.”

Sean decided to enroll in the renowned theater department at DePaul University after realizing he enjoyed putting on a show for an audience. He completed the program in 1996. John Cabera, who also appeared in Gilmore Girls, was not only one of his classmates but also his roommate at this period. The two of them lived together. After Sean graduated from high school, he moved to Chicago and started a theater company with some of his school friends. After two years in Chicago, he moved to Los Angeles, hoping to break into the film and television industry and has since appeared in several films and television series there. His first credit for acting was in the movie Tromeo and Juliet (1996), which was also a film that his brother James had a hand in writing.

A short time later, he was cast in the recurring character of “Mick” in the second episode of the critically acclaimed television series Gilmore Girls. After that, he was cast in the fifth episode as the strange townsperson Kirk, who begins his appearances as the new assistant manager of Doose’s Market and goes on to take on various odd jobs and appears seemingly everywhere. His performance as Kirk spanned the whole of the series’ run, which concluded in 2007, and he returned to the character for the miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which was shown on Netflix in 2016. Pearl Harbor (2001), in which Sean played the character of a “Traction Sailor,” was the first big film in which he appeared as an actor. While he was a regular cast member on Gilmore Girls, he also appeared as a guest on several other television programs, including DAG, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Yes, Dear.

Immediately after the final episode of Gilmore Girls aired, Sean was offered the role of Rooster in the television drama series October Road, which aired on ABC for two seasons. In 2011, he was given the role of Jason O’Brien in the futuristic web series H+ created by Bryan Singer and distributed by Warner Bros. He has also appeared in indie films such as Super (2010) and The Giant Mechanical Man (2012). Still, his most successful film is Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). In this film, he plays the role of Kraglin and co-stars as “Rocket” with Bradley Cooper. On set, he plays the role of Rocket, but Bradley is the one who ultimately gives the character’s voice. In addition to them, the picture also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, and Dave Bautista. In the sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Sean reprised the roles he had previously played. His elder brother James helmed both films in the series and contributed to their writing.

For several years, he has been romantically involved with his longtime girlfriend, Gina Clover. As the character Rebecca, she was featured in the television miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. These two individuals are strong backers of the animal sanctuary known as Tenth Life, which contributes to the provision of veterinary treatment and shelters for cats.
When Sean and his brother Patrick had a fantasy baseball team, they were once in the same league as Geddy Lee, the Canadian band Rush’s lead singer and rhythm guitarist. The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has featured some interesting musical compositions throughout its three films. Moviegoers are exposed to a wide variety of music, some of which they may or may not be acquainted with, ranging from classic hits from the 1960s up to songs from the 2010s. Unfortunately, only a select few songs can be used in the movies, and Sean Gunn, who plays Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, suggests a song that should have been included in the films in this trilogy but wasn’t.

During a question and answer session on Twitter, the actor was asked which song he would want to include in any of the three movies. The actor gave it considerable thinking, especially considering that there were a significant number of songs that he wanted to be included in the movie. In the end, Gunn provided a solution: “Gentle on My Mind” by John Hartford. He explained his reasoning for his choice by saying that “people like folk music.” The song “Gentle on My Mind” was first made public in 1967 and was included on Hartford’s second studio album, which was titled Earthworks & Music. The song reached its highest position on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number 30, where it was referred to be “an essay on life.” The song was honored with many Grammys at the 1968 ceremony, including Best Country & Western Song, Best Folk Performance, Best Country & Western Solo Vocal Performance, Male, and Best Country & Western Recording. It was written and performed by Bob Dylan. Considering this song’s popularity, it’s unsurprising that the actor who plays one of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters requested this song be included in the movie.

The soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 included a brand-new collection of songs that had not been used in any of the prior films in the series. You can read the whole track listing right here if you’re interested in finding out which songs were featured in this Marvel farewell album. If this is not the case, you will be able to see the movie when it is released in cinemas on May 5th, 2023. Nathan Fillion, everyone’s favorite classic science-fiction rogue and a long-time buddy of James Gunn, scored himself a tiny cameo in Marvel’s newest blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and fans couldn’t be more delighted to see the Firefly actor back in action in the far reaches of space once more.
